What a betting tips website must do

One point first: a website that takes bets (a bookmaker) needs a gambling licence from the regulator in your country. This comparison is about betting tips websites, where you publish your analysis and sell VIP access. The difference is explained in our guide on how to create a betting tips website for free.

Whatever the tool, a paid tipster website has to do five things:

  1. 1

    Publish your tips

Free or VIP-only, singles or accumulators, with the odds and your analysis.

  2. 2

Keep a track record and statistics

Every result, won or lost, and the figures that follow from them. That is what convinces a visitor to pay.

  3. 3

    Take subscription payments

By card, ideally PayPal too, over several durations.

  4. 4

    Open and close VIP access

On payment, then on expiry, without you having to step in.

  5. 5

    Connect your Telegram

If that's where your members are: whoever pays gets in, whoever stops paying is removed.

Keep this list in mind: it is what separates the three options, far more than the design.

Building a betting tips website with WordPress

WordPress is an excellent general-purpose tool, free and open source. To turn it into a paid betting tips website, you need to put several pieces together.

1. Hosting and a domain name

Budget a few euros a month for shared hosting. With the French host o2switch, for example, the entry plan starts at €1.86 excl. VAT a month, domain name included, paid yearly, then renewed at the standard price.

2. A theme

Free or premium, then adapted to your brand. No theme is designed to display a betting tips track record: you will be adapting blog post pages.

3. A membership plugin

This is what creates your plans, takes payments and restricts VIP content to members who are up to date. The two best known:

PluginPricePaymentsTransaction fees
Paid Memberships Pro (free)€0Stripe, PayPal and manual payment, through the core or free add-onsNone from the plugin
Paid Memberships Pro Standard$499 / yearSame, with premium add-ons and supportNone from the plugin
MemberPress Launch$199.50 the first year, then $399 / yearStripe only4.9% per payment
MemberPress Growth$349.50 the first year, then $699 / yearStripe, PayPal, Square, manual0%

Prices checked on 27 October 2026 on Paid Memberships Pro, its payment gateways page and MemberPress. Stripe or PayPal fees come on top in every case.

4. Track record and statistics

Most of the time, each tip becomes a blog post filed under a category. For a strike rate or average odds, you need yet another plugin, or a table kept by hand.

5. Telegram

Adding a member to your VIP channel on payment, then removing them on expiry, takes a specialised plugin, a third-party service or manual work.

6. Maintenance

Updates to WordPress, the theme and the plugins, backups, security: it is up to you to keep on top of them. One update can break a plugin, and a broken membership site means members who pay without getting access.

In short

WordPress is a great fit if you are comfortable with the technical side and want a fully custom website. Each piece is still one more tool to choose, configure and watch over.

Hiring an agency

A few agencies specialise in betting tips websites. They build you a WordPress site (most of the time) with the plugins you need. Prices seen in October 2026:

€500 – €1,000

the usual flat fee to build it

≈ 10 days

the advertised delivery time

≈ €20 / month

for maintenance, on top of hosting

The upside is real: you have nothing to put together. But the website is still WordPress, with plugins to update: someone else simply does it for you, for a maintenance fee. Before you sign, ask:

  • Who owns the website once it is delivered: you, or the agency for as long as you pay for maintenance?
  • Whose name the accounts are in for hosting, the domain name and payments: they must be in yours.
  • What maintenance covers: updates, backups, fixes, and how quickly.
  • What a change costs after delivery: a new plan, a page, a design change.

Typsa: a tool built for tipsters

Typsa does one job: the website of a tipster who sells subscriptions. Everything you need is already in place, and the technical side is handled for you.

  1. 1

You create your website in 4 steps

The name, address and your sports, your account, payment for your plan: the website is live, on a typsa.fr address. Your own domain name can be connected from the Starter plan.

  2. 2

    You customise it

Theme, logo, main colour, home image, tagline. The pages (home, VIP plans, results, members' area) are already designed.

  3. 3

You choose how your members pay

Stripe, PayPal or manual payment, then you create your VIP plans by the day, month or year.

  4. 4

    You publish your tips

Singles, accumulators or rollover challenges, free or VIP, with a confidence rating: Safe, Semi safe or Fun. When you mark a tip as won or lost, your statistics and your members' bankroll update.

VIP access opens on payment and closes on expiry, including in your Telegram channels and groups from the Starter plan. The details are in our tutorial on how to automate payments and VIP access.

The limits, to be complete: you can't edit the code, the layout follows the available themes (5 with Starter, 11 with Pro), and each plan has a monthly revenue cap (up to €300 in revenue a month with Starter, up to €300 in revenue a month with Starter, unlimited revenue with Pro).

In euros, a WordPress site you build yourself costs less in the first year. The real difference is counted in hours: the hours spent putting the pieces together, then maintaining them every month. An agency buys you that time, but at the highest price of the three.

Who owns your website?

It is the question people forget, and the one that matters the day you want to change tools.

WordPress

You own everything: the code, the database, the files. You can switch hosts whenever you like.

  • +Complete freedom
  • −Security and backups are yours too

Agency

It all depends on the contract. Insist that hosting, the domain and the payment accounts are in your name.

  • +Ownership is possible
  • −Check before you sign

Typsa

You don't own the code: it is an online service that runs for as long as you subscribe. Your payments go to your own Stripe or PayPal account, and your domain name stays yours.

  • +Nothing to maintain
  • +No commitment
  • −No access to the code

If you ever leave Typsa, your domain points elsewhere and your payment accounts remain yours. The website itself, however, can't be moved: that is the price of "nothing to maintain".
